Abingdon Estates Home

The Concept The Abingdon Estate Development Site is located at Abingdon, roughly midway between Orange Bay and Green Island Harbour in the Parish of Hanover on the west coast of the Island of Jamaica.  The site covers an area of 491.59 acres (198.94 hectares) comprising a mixed landscape of forested upland, lower forest and scrubland and open, poorly drained pastureland on the eastern side of the Negril to Montego Bay Highway.  Amongst this stands the old fortified plantation house, known as ‘Abingdon Great House’, a scheduled historic building.  To the west of the highway lies the flatter lower coastal fringe lands that comprise areas of rocky limestone hills, wetlands, and again former open pastureland.  The shoreline is made up of a mixture of sandy beaches, ironshore, and a small amount of mangrove.
